High school youth are invited to a multi-congregation retreat focusing on fellowship and service – we’ll meet new friends and reconnect with friends from the Youth Gathering trips. The retreat will be held at Central Lutheran, 15th & Cordova, from 5 pm Friday, March 1 to 5 pm Saturday, March 2. Pastor Carol will attend along with pastors and youth leaders from six other ELCA congregations. We’ll share meals, provide hospitality during the Iditarod ceremonial start, distribute hand warmers and sandwiches, play games and get to know each other better, and attend some Fur Rondy events as a group. Cost is $20 and scholarships are available if needed. Youth will need to bring a pillow and sleeping bag for the night and warm winter gear for the Fur Rondy fun. Please bring additional funds if you’d like to visit the Fur Rondy carnival rides, too.

High school youth are invited to mark their calendars for June 24 to July 2 as we’re planning a road trip! Youth from multiple ELCA congregations will come together to travel to Mat-Su, Trapper Creek, Fairbanks and North Pole, Delta Junction, and Valdez as a group to share fellowship, learn from local members of ELCA congregations at each stop, do some short hikes, visit historical and natural points of interest, complete short service projects at some churches and more. We’re planning to keep costs to $150 per youth by sleeping over at churches and community centers, doing fundraisers to cover gas costs and meals, sharing meals with local congregations, and seeking Thrivent grants and such.
Watch for more information to follow and check in with Pastor Carol for details.
